Fictional example
Would it help to give an example from a fictional work (Citizen of the Galaxy by Robert Heinlein)? JulieKahan (talk) 10:35, 10 September 2017 (UTC)
- Go ahead, add it under a new subsection "In popular culture". 202.156.182.84 (talk) 19:34, 6 April 2018 (UTC)
Please expand
Interesting article. Thanks for creating. Kindly add more details to explain the concept more in details it left more questions in my mind, what is permissible and whet is not, and some examples of exchanges. Thanks. 202.156.182.84 (talk) 19:34, 6 April 2018 (UTC)
Original research
Somebody please find a reference for this and add it to the article: Etymology: "moitié" is the french translation of the english word for "half" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2607:F2C0:E2A4:13:D15:FF0C:6B34:C3E1 (talk) 18:53, 5 October 2018 (UTC)
Dubious
"It is an exogamous clan system with only two clans." Well, no. It is an exogamous clan system, with either:
- two clans, each called a moiety;
- four clans, each called a section; formed by splitting a moiety in two; or
- eight clans, each called a subsection; formed by splitting a section in two.
At least in Australia.

Weird perspective
"In the case of a patrilineal descent system, this can be interpreted as a system in which women are exchanged between the two moieties."
In the case of matrilineal descent systems, could this be interpreted as a system in which men are exchanged?
