John L. Petersen (* 1943) je americký futurológ.

Kariéra

Je zakladateľom a prezidentom Arlingtonského inštitútu (The Arlington Institute) think tanku zameraného na štúdium významných globálnych trendov pre rozvíjanie budúcich obrazov pozitívnej budúcnosti. Jeho správy o budúcnosti sú využívané na najvyšších úrovniach americkej vlády ako základ pre strategické rozhodovanie.

Scenáre divokých kariet

John Petersen rozpracoval metódu scenárov divokých kariet. Publikoval knihu Out of Blue. How to Anticipate Big Future Surprises (2000), v ktorej sa špeciálne zaoberá touto metódou.
